WE WILL POST RELEVANT TOURNAMENT UPDATES HERE...
5/26: Lake VBC 16's dropped out of the tournament. We have revised the U18's Division to make the 6 teams at Tillicum MS a 5-team pool. It also affects the second round as well as playoffs. Please print out a copy of the revised U18 Division HERE.
5/25: Tournament handbook posted HERE. Please note that the handbook replaces the coaches meeting. Coaches, please print and keep a copy with you. There is a site meeting at every gym at 8:00 am with your site tournament director.
5/19: Preliminary pools are posted on the pools page. Any changes will be posted to the pools page or distributed at the Saturday morning site meeting.
5/18: We have changed the site for the 12-13's Division to Glacier Peak HS. With two late additions, we now need 4 courts, and GPHS is a great 4-court gym. The two additional teams make for a better tournament than the original 12 teams over a 2-day window
5/17: We had planned on posting pools on Monday, 5/17 but have had some recent drops because of the ECC. We hope to have pools posted no later than Wednesday, 5/19
We understand teams may be waiting to hear abut their status in the ECC, please visit our event home page for information on our entry procedures and tournament format. With two rounds of pool and single elimination matches (same match # guarantee) we feel you will find this a great replacement tournament for the ECC -- plus you get Monday off! -- since Memorial Day is not a holiday in Canada.
Thank-you for your interest in the 2010 Memorial Day Classic Tournament in Kirkland, Washington. This is an open entry for any team that wants to play over Memorial Day Weekend. It is not an "invitational" style tournament, so teams will be accepted first come, first served, until the tournament fills. Also, this will be a two-day format event, allowing teams to enjoy Memorial Day off. The tournament will be held at various schools in and around the Eastside and North Seattle (Edmonds area), and will be a two-day progressive pool play format similar to that of our Spring Classic tournament. There will be two rounds of pool play, followed by single elimination play. Saturday will be at least one round of pool (in most cases, the second round of pool will begin Saturday as well), Sunday will be the completion of the second round of pool and all of the playoff matches. Play will go until later in the day Sunday -- with Monday an off day.
This tournament provides an excellent opportunity for out of state teams (not able or unwilling to participate in the ECC Invitational Tournament) to spend the three-day weekend in the great city of Seattle, playing volleyball against some of the best teams in the Northwest. It also condenses the same number of matches into a two-day format, allowing for teams to have Memorial Day off, to explore the great Puget Sound area while visiting.
Entry Deadline: February 1, 2010. Entry Fee: $275.00 ($300.00 after the deadline)
There is a $25 discount for very early registration and a $25 late fee for entries postmarked after February 1st, 2010. Entries after the deadline will only be accepted to fill the tournament -- so please call first.
Any
teams wishing to drop before the entry deadline will lose a $50
administrative fee. Any teams wishing to drop out of the
tournament between the entry deadline and May 8th, 2010 will lose 1/2
of their entry fee. After May 8th, 2010 there will be no
refund of entry fee.
There will be a coaches meeting 30 minutes prior to the beginning of play on Saturday at your site. Please bring a team roster for each day of the tournament in case you change sites. Playing schedules will be available online up to one week prior to the tournament. We post the playing schedule on the website as a courtesy, please be advised that with tournaments this size, there are last seconds drops and changes. Those will be posted to the "POOLS" page.
